Vacancies at the Zabaan Center in New Delhi

Zabaan is currently looking for English as a second language instructors who are able to work part time on a supply basis. A knowledge of American English is preferred, but not essential.
This position will require you to teach both basic and intermediate Hindi. You should be a native Hindi speaker, and as you will predominantly be teaching non-native speakers, fluency in English is required. Prior teaching experience or a degree in Hindi is not necessary, although a basic knowledge of Hindi grammar or linguistics would be an advantage. You must be sociable, eager to teach, and passionate about Hindi.
Advanced Hindi Instructor
We require a native Hindi speaker to teach advanced Hindi. Your students – whilst mostly non-native speakers – will be proficient in Hindi. English fluency is thus not required, but would be a bonus. An advanced degree in Hindi, familiarity with Hindi literary traditions, and knowledge of Sanskrit and/or Braj Bhasha would be ideal. You must be sociable, eager to teach, and passionate about Hindi.
We are hiring an Urdu instructor to teach both basic and intermediate Urdu. You should be a native Hindi/Urdu speaker, and as you will predominantly be teaching non-native speakers, fluency in English is required. Ideally, you should also be able to read and write Devanagri, and be willing to teach basic and intermediate Hindi as needed. Prior teaching experience or a degree in Urdu is not necessary. Familiarity with Persian and Arabic (at least in the context of Urdu) would be ideal. You must be sociable, eager to teach, and passionate about Urdu.
Advanced Urdu Instructor
We require a native Urdu speaker to teach advanced Urdu. Your students – whilst mostly non-native speakers – will be proficient in Urdu. English fluency is thus not required, but would be a bonus. An advanced degree in Urdu, familiarity with Urdu literature, and a knowledge of Persian and Arabic would be ideal. Proficiency in and ability to teach either Persian or Arabic would be advantageous. You must be sociable, eager to teach, and passionate about Urdu.
As Zabaan is a language institute, we expect all staff to be willing to work constantly on improving their language abilities, and beyond that, to be enthusiastic and proactive about learning languages. You should be able to take constructive criticism, and willing to listen to suggestions and implement new teaching methods as needed.
