Urdu Reading and Writing

This course is designed for those who already understand Hindi or Urdu and also know how to read and write Nastaliq. Throughout this course you will practice reading and writing Urdu to achieve a high level of proficiency. Exercises include reading short stories, learning new vocabulary, understanding how some Urdu nouns change from singular to plural differently from their Hindi equivalents, learning the Persian grammar constructions found in Urdu, and much more.

Materials:

• Urdu: Readings in Literary Urdu Prose by Gopi Chand Narang-2001 (Available for Purchase at Zabaan; Price: Rs. 100)
• Introductory Urdu (Volumes I & II) by C.M. Naim-2011 (Available for Purchase at Zabaan; Price: Rs. 290 )

Prerequisites: “Urdu Script” and an ability to speak and understand Hindi or Urdu

Total Number of Sessions: 10 or more (each session is 1.5 hours)
