A complete course on Devanāgarī (the script of Hindi). By the end of this 4-session course you’ll be reading and writing the script of Hindi. Zabaan makes learning Devanāgarī interesting and effortless. After this course you will have the skills and knowledge you need to read and write Hindi on your own. Urdu Script

A complete course on Nastalīq (the script of Urdu). By the end of this 4-session course you’ll be reading and writing the Urdu script. Zabaan makes learning Nastalīq easy and enjoyable. After this course, you will be able to read and write Urdu. We recommend that students who already have a background in speaking Hindi/Urdu continue on with our “Urdu Reading and Writing” course to practice and perfect what they learn in this course. Please note that this Urdu Script course is included as part of Zabaan’s Basic Urdu course; if you want to learn the Urdu language, and not just the script, sign-up for Basic Urdu.

Note: Urdu Script is being taught for FREE on Sunday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.! The next free Urdu Script course will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, 29 August 2010 and will meet for the next three consecutive Sundays (for a total of 4 sessions). Urdu Reading and Writing

This course is for those who already know Hindi/Urdu and who just learned how to read and write the Urdu script. Throughout this course you will practice reading and writing Urdu to achieve a level a proficiency equivalent to that of your English and Hindi. Exercises include reading short stories, learning new words, understanding how some Urdu nouns change from singular to plural differently from their Hindi equivalents, learning the Persian grammar constructions found in Urdu, and much more.

Prerequisites:Urdu Script” and an ability to speak and understand Hindi/Urdu

Basic Hindi

A complete course on the fundamentals of the Hindi language. You will learn many constructions which you can immediately put to use in India, and once this course is completed, you will be able to read and write in Devanāgarī (the script of Hindi); respond to commands and make requests; carry out everyday conversations; acquire Hindi’s most useful vocabulary; understand and use a range of grammar constructions involving the past, present, and future tenses; and gain control of Hindi’s most frequently used idiomatic expressions. At the end of this course, you will be able to continue learning Hindi on your own, or, you may enroll in our Intermediate Hindi course to continue your education where you leave off here.


Note: Our next Basic Hindi class will start on Monday, 16 August at 7:30 p.m. The class will meet every Monday and Thursday from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. Register now as space is limited.

Basic Urdu

Take your Hindi skills to the next level in our Intermediate Hindi class. In this course you practice what you have learned in the Basic Hindi course and by the end of it you will be able to write formal letters in Hindi; read complicated stories in Hindi; express your thoughts, opinions, desires, past experiences, and plans for the future; and you will be able to successfully complete a range of grammar exercises covering over 95% of the language’s possible grammar constructions. Take this class and begin to appreciate Hindi’s finer details as you progress towards fluency.

(After completing this course you’ll have superior-level Urdu skills. You’ll be able to fluently express your feelings and thoughts in this language.
